Invitation to attend a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Training - 5 April 2017 The City of Stonnington... https://t.co/UqRQBoLqJw
FROM THE PRESIDENT
It is not long now until the first bounce and the Club is shaping up beautifully for the 2017 season. We've had great numbers on the training track and we are full steam ahead with our second women's team, which is fantastic.
Our Players have been through a grueling pre-season campaign, including a camp at Barwon Heads, with some of our up and coming players given the chance to impress in a hit out against the home side.
Off the field there is a lot happening, so I do apologise for a lengthy report, but it's important we get the information out there and to start getting responses from our loyal and ever growing supporter base.
Round 1 Double Header Luncheons
We have back to back luncheons at the King during Round 1 (Saturday & Sunday) with SKOB enjoying home games for the Seniors, Reserves, Masters & Saints. There is more information below, but I'd like to put it out there now - we'd like to fill the room on both days and kick off the season with a bang (and wins for all teams!).
Don't forget Weeping Willows members receive a discounted rate to attend luncheons, and if you're a SKOB $500 or SKOB In Business member - luncheon attendance forms part of your membership. Please chat to Daniel Kennedy or John Paul Whitbread about joining the Weeping Willows.
We have wonderful sponsors, some joining us for the first time while others are increasing their support this year. So, as our sponsors support our Club, please support our sponsors if the opportunity arises.
Some of the major sponsors are:
One of Australia’s largest retail, industrial and commercial property owners, they have come to know the St Kevin’s community through the fact they own the Stockland Tooronga shopping centre – adjacent to the new St Kevin’s Tooronga sports facility. CEO Mark Steinert is very excited to be involved with the club signing a three year sponsorship deal. They will be seen on the front of the 2017, 70th year jumper. SKOBFC are very proud to be associated with a quality community minded company.
Mercedes Toorak are also new this year and have committed support for three years. Their contribution will be mainly sponsoring our lunches which will each have a theme named after an era of our 70 year history. Show your appreciation to Mercedes Toorak by calling them on 03 8825 5000 and buy one (or two) Mercedes Benz’s from him.
My in-laws just purchased a C200 from them, if you can keep them happy, you can make anyone happy.
National Storage joined SKOBFC last year and have also increased its sponsorship for another three years. You may have seen the National Storage Logo on the back of the Saints jumpers which they will maintain but you also see them on the front of the seniors jumpers this year. They are great supporter of local community clubs. CEO Andrew Catsoulis is delighted to be involved with a strong community minded club. I personally have used National Storage Richmond recently. They offer a great affordable system that is easy to use. With 23 centres in Melbourne they are everywhere. Think about them as you squeeze past all that stuff in your garage to get into your car next time!
We must also acknowledge the support of our great long term benefactors
For the astute ones out there you may have thought “where's Acca” if not on the front of the jumper where he's been for near 30 years? We are having a special 70th jumper made so we have increased his exposure by putting him on the back with another great decades-long sponsor.
I don’t have enough room to explain what Andrew and Tom Simpson along with their families have done for SKOB; we wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for their financial, hands on and on-field contributions.
Another long term sponsor is Geotech, and they proudly sit alongside Simpson Construction on the back of our 70th year anniversary jumper.
Bede and Andre Noonan have been our major sponsor ever since I've been involved at SKOB. Their support is one of the reasons we are back in Premier and are traveling along nicely. They are always supporting at games and functions, demonstrating that they are an integral part of the club as the blue, gold and green on the jumper.
Ring Family (previously Swisse)
The Rings are unsung heroes of SKOB with financial and hands on support, Lisa as Club secretary keeping this massive club in line and Steve telling me to stand up every time I get up to talk. With three boys playing, they are always helping on Thursday nights and supporting the Club on the weekends.
Whitbread Insurance is another that gives so much to the Club that it is ridiculous. Not not only does John Paul support financially but he has been the driving force behind the Player Support Program, Recruitment and this year working on Sponsorship as well. Supporting Whitbread is twofold - it helps the Club but it also helps you by ensuring you have the best insurance cover at the best price, a no brainer.
O’Donohues First National Real Estate
O'Donoghues First National Real Estate have been apparel sponsors for 4 years and this "ain’t no cheap commitment". Jonothan and Simon are always around the Club - if you get a chance, have a chat to them about their extensive knowledge of real estate or just ask Browny or Staff how well they have been looked after.
Bendigo Bank East Malvern Branch.
Peter Norman has supported the Grand Final lunch for 8 years and financed our scoreboard. His message is simple - support the bank so they can support us.
There are many others who are the backbone of this Club in the banner above - please support the following sponsors - join Mark O’Reilly at the Glenferrie Hotel, thanks to Richard Lewis for having O’Connor Machinery support us; buy your floor coverings from Jarrod Travaglia at Allfloors Carpet Gallery, engage Paul McCann of CMC for any cleaning contract, enjoy the family hospitality of Jane Lewis at The Emerald hotel. Other great sponsors will be promoted throughout the year.
We are having a sponsors gathering at training the Thursday night before the first game, come down and join them and also chat to some of our new recruits.'

This will be the first time we have had luncheons on consecutive days, and our first luncheons for our Saints & Masters teams. It is going to be a big weekend for the Club and we'd like to see as many parents, supporters, siblings & Weeping Willows join us on Saturday or Sunday to support our teams in action.
Booking your spot or table is easy, it can be done online with a few clicks. The link to the SKOBFC shop is below - please choose the option that relates to your booking type and you're away!

SKOB WOMEN CELEBRATE
Some of our SKOB Saints attended the Susan Alberti Charity Breakfast - Celebrating Women in AFL football last week.
SAMRF is dedicated to raising money for medical research and other worthy causes, through a series of annual fundraising events.
Thanks must go to Lisa Ring, Trish Op de Coul and Judy Mullen for involving our SKOB Saints in what was a wonderful celebration of women's footy.
SPORTSFIT PHYSIO & HEALTH
